High-Quality Heirloom Seeds Since 2016

We grow and sell a large selection of different heirloom, vegetable and herb seeds as well as a wonderfully large selection of flower seeds. We maintain an impressive range of unique, heirloom varieties on our farm, as well as a large assortment of various types of flowers that help enhance the beauty of our property as well as encourage the presence of pollinators. It is worth the trip out in the summer months to see it in all its splendor.

All of our seeds are heirloom varieties. Every fall, we germinate all the varieties that we grow and work with to be sure that they have high viability and to help maintain and protect some species that are endangered. About Us

Family-owned and operated for well over a decade, Cochrane Family Farm is a certified organic farm with 30 acres of river valley farmland in Upper Stewiacke, Nova Scotia. We offer a wide range of products and services and tend to a unique, bio-diverse, beautiful farm.

Come visit our country store, which features a full line of organic and local food products, as well as vegetables, seeds and herbal products straight from our farm. We have over 300 organic and natural food products in stock. At any given time, we have hundreds of heirloom open-pollinated vegetable, herb and flower seeds. A Gardener’s Delight

Our garden centre opens early April and will stay open until the end of summer. We grow more than 50 different varieties of Certified Organic transplants, and offer a range of shrubs, perennial and annual flowers, berry bushes and fruit trees, climbing vines, aquatic plants, trees, garden tools, potting and soil mixes, fertilizers and more.

Tea Time

Beyond heirloom seeds, we also have a soothing selection of herbal teas. Our signature flavours include: Turmeric Ginger, Peppermint Cranberry and Festive Chai tea. Herbal teas are a great way to get the many benefits these medicinal herbs have to offer all while enjoying the pleasing flavours. We are well known for the great array of teas we offer.

The Spice of Life

Did you know that our culinary herb and spice blends are certified organic, have no fillers and are made in small batches to maintain the highest quality standards? We grow the hand tended herbs right here on the farm. Try favourites like our Steak spice, Italian Blend and Savory Herb Blend.

All-Natural Herbal Remedies

Maybe you’re more interested in soothing your skin after a dry winter or want the right herbal remedies for you and your family. Our locally made, all-natural herbal line includes lip balm, moisturizer, herbal oils, topical health care, select tinctures and more. Of the many different products we offer, all of them are made in small batches for quality control. Most of the herbal ingredients are grown right here on the farm.

The Perfect Gift

If you have an avid gardener in your life or someone who loves local, organic products, we offer gift certificates, as well as gift boxes featuring a trio or 6-pack of herbal teas or spice mixes. You can even get one of our three different seed gift packs from our flower collection, herb collection, or kitchen collection each featuring six unique varieties.

Hands-on Learning

Usually hosted from February to September, once or twice a month, these intensive, interactive workshops with hands on skill building are a great learning opportunity.
